Description
As soon as I passed this channel in the Danube delta, I knew I would paint it. The light was hazy and there was not as much contrast of light and shadow as I am used to painting. However, there was a magical atmosphere, a sense of calm. The water lilies remained still, like sleeping beauties, and the reflections of the trees and the boat were perfect, producing a mirror effect, that has been achieved in the artwork by giving a glaze over the water. That stillness that we so long for in our daily lives is what predominates in this work, hence its name, Stillness on the Danube.
I hope this painting brings a lot of calm into your home.
